Operating principle

StreetSiren DoubleDeck performs four tasks:

  1. Informs about the alarms. The siren responds to system alarms and tamper or accelerometer triggering, enabling a buzzer and LED backlight to scare off intruders and attract attention.
  2. Indicates the security status. With a LED indication, the siren can notify that the object is armed and inform with a sound signal and backlight about delays when entering/leaving.
  3. Notifies of opening.(Chimes). Sirens with a particular sound inform you about the triggering of the opening detectors when the system is disarmed. The feature is used, for example, in stores, to notify employees that someone has entered the premises.
  4. Notifies of triggering until the system is disarmed. The lower right corner of the siren’s LED frame flashes after the sound signal. Thanks to this option, users and passing patrols of security companies can see that the system was triggered.

Alarm volume and duration

By alarm, the siren sounds from 3 seconds to 3 minutes, emitting a sound volume of 85 to 113 dB. In the Ajax apps, you can set the duration and volume of the alarm, as well as determine which devices will activate the siren.

Protection against sabotage

StreetSiren S DoubleDeck is equipped with a tamper button and an accelerometer. The tamper button is triggered when the device enclosure is opened/broken, and the accelerometer is triggered when somebody attempts to move or dismantle the device.

In the event of sabotage, the users and the security company know exactly which siren the intruders are trying to disable. The notifications contain the following:

  • The hub name (name of the protected object).
  • The incident time.
  • The siren’s name.
  • The alarm type.
  • The virtual room to which the device is assigned.

When installed properly, it is hard to dismount and disconnect an activated siren: its enclosure is robust, the buzzer is protected, and power is from the bundled batteries, so the siren will continue to work even if there is a power outage at the object. Also, the power button is blocked if the system is armed, preventing the siren from being turned off.

Jamming detection

StreetSiren S DoubleDeck Jeweller features a radio interference detection algorithm. When a potential jamming attempt occurs, the algorithm detects a sudden increase or decrease in the noise level. It takes into account not only the amplitude of the noise but also the duration over time. This helps to differentiate between short, temporary disruptions caused by environmental factors and sustained interference indicative of intentional jamming.

When StreetSiren S DoubleDeck detects a potential jamming signal, it initiates a signal analysis to confirm the presence of jamming. If confirmed, it activates an alarm.

When the Radio Interference Detection function is activated, the security company and users will receive a notification of a sabotage attempt, and the sound of a siren will scare away the intruders.

Adding to the system

StreetSiren S DoubleDeck is incompatible with Hub and third-party security control panels.

To connect StreetSiren S DoubleDeck to the hub, the device must be located at the same secured facility as the system (within the range of the hub radio network). For the detector to work via ReX or ReX 2 radio signal range extender, you must first add the detector to the hub, then connect it to ReX or ReX 2 in the settings of the range extender.

The hub and the device operating at different radio frequencies are incompatible. The radio-frequency range of the device may vary by region. We recommend purchasing and using Ajax devices in the same region. You can check the range of operating radio frequencies with the technical support service.

Before adding a device

  1. Install the Ajax app.
  2. Create an account if you don’t have one. Add a compatible hub to the app, make the necessary settings, and create at least one virtual room.
  3. Ensure the hub is switched on and has internet access via Ethernet, Wi-Fi and/or mobile network.
  4. Ensure the hub is disarmed and does not start updating by checking its status in the Ajax app.

The power button is recessed into the body and is tight to press. You can use a thin, hard object, like a pencil, to press it.

Connecting to the hub

  1. Open an Ajax PRO app. Select the hub where you want to add the device.
  2. Go to the Devices tab in the Ajax app and click Add Device.
  3. Name the device, scan, or type in the QR code (placed on the device and the package box), and select a room and a group (if Group mode is enabled).
  4. Click Add.
  5. Switch on the device.
  6. Switch on the device by holding the power button for 3 seconds. The hub sends the connection request only when the siren turns on.

The power button is recessed into the enclosure and is tight to press. You can use a thin, hard object, like a pencil, to press it.

For detection and pairing to occur, StreetSiren S DoubleDeck must be within the hub’s radio communication range, i.e., at the same guarded object.

StreetSiren S DoubleDeck shuts down automatically 6 seconds after turning on if it fails to connect to the hub. There is no need to deactivate the device to retry the connection. If StreetSiren S DoubleDeck has already been assigned to another hub, turn off the siren and follow the standard addition procedure.

The connected siren will appear in the list of hub devices in the app. Updating device statuses in the list depends on the ping time defined in Jeweller settings. The default value is 36 seconds.

Up to 10 sirens or keypads with a built-in siren can be connected to one hub.

Functionality test

The Ajax system offers several tests to help select the device installation place. Tests do not start immediately. However, the waiting time does not exceed the duration of one “hub—device” polling interval. The polling interval can be checked and configured at hub settings (HubSettings Jeweller or Jeweller/Fibra).

To run a test in the Ajax app:

  1. Select the required hub.
  2. Go to the Devices tab.
  3. Select StreetSiren S DoubleDeck from the list.
  4. Go to Settings .
  5. Select a test:
  6. Run the test.

Device placement

ajax streetsiren s doubledeck

The placement of StreetSiren S DoubleDeck determines its distance from the hub and the presence of obstacles that impede the passage of the radio signal: walls, inter-floor constructions, or large-sized objects in the room.

When choosing a place, consider the audibility of the siren, as well as the visibility of its LED indication, as this determines the device’s performance.

StreetSiren S DoubleDeck withstands heat, cold, and temperature drops. The sealed enclosure is certified and complies with protection class IP55. The outdoor siren is protected from rain and snow and can be installed on the facade of the building without a canopy.

Signal strength

The Jeweller signal strength is determined by the number of undelivered or corrupted data packages over a certain period of time. The icon on the Devices tab indicates the signal strength:

  • Three bars — excellent signal strength.
  • Two bars — good signal strength.
  • One bar — low signal strength, stable operation is not guaranteed.
  • Crossed out icon — no signal.

Check the Jeweller signal strength before final installation. With a signal strength of one or zero bars, we do not guarantee stable operation of the device. Consider to relocate the device as repositioning even by 20 cm can significantly improve the signal strength. If there is still poor or unstable signal after the relocation, use a radio signal range extender.

How not to install a siren

  1. Near glass break detectors. The siren sound may trigger an alarm.
  2. In places where the audio signal of the siren can be jammed.
  3. In places where the LED indication of the siren will not be visible.
  4. Near the metal objects and mirrors. They can shield and attenuate the radio signal.
  5. Closer than 1 meter from the hub or radio signal range extender. This can lead to a loss of communication with the device.
  6. In a place with a low signal level. This may result in the loss of the connection with the hub.

Installation

Connecting a third-party power supply unit

When connecting a third-party power supply unit and using StreetSiren S DoubleDeck, follow the general electrical safety regulations for using electrical appliances and the requirements of regulatory legal acts on electrical safety.

StreetSiren S DoubleDeck runs on pre-installed batteries for up to 5 years and is equipped with terminals for connecting a 12 V⎓ power supply unit.

Before installing the device, be sure to check the insulation of the wires for damage. Use only a grounded power source. It is strictly forbidden to disassemble the device under voltage! Do not use the device with a damaged power cable.

To connect a third-party power supply unit:

  1. Drill a hole for a cable anywhere in the indicated area of the SmartBracket mounting panel.
  2. Route the dead power supply unit cable through the mounting panel.
  3. Connect the cable to the terminal strips observing polarity.
  4. Turn on power — the External Power Supply field value changes to Connected in StreetSiren S DoubleDeck statuses.
  5. Install the siren.

After connecting a remote power supply, do not remove the batteries from the siren: they act as a backup power source.

The system will notify about the need for service when the battery level drops to 20%.

Mounting Brandplate

To mount the faceplate:

  1. Turn off the remote power of the siren if connected.
  2. Unscrew the fixing screw from the bottom of the siren with a PH2 screwdriver if the siren is mounted on the SmartBracket mounting panel.

  10. Fix Brandplate to the protective plastic panel using the bundled bolt.
  11. Fit the protective plastic panel in place (the Ajax logo on the connection side of the LED strip to the board) with little effort. The properly mounted plastic panel will protrude above the LED frame no more than 1.0 to 1.5 mm.
  12. Turn the siren over while holding the front and back of the enclosure, and tighten 4 screws.
  13. Turn on the siren and check the status of tampers in the app.

Siren mounting

ajax siren

Before mounting the siren, be sure to choose the optimal location that meets the requirements of this manual.

The recommended installation height is 2.5 meters or more. This will make it difficult for intruders to access the device. If you try to detach the device from the mount, the system will raise an alarm. The security company and users will receive a notification of a sabotage attempt, and the siren will scare away the intruders.

To install a siren:

  1. Fasten the SmartBracket mounting panel to the surface using the bundled screws. When using other fasteners, ensure they do not damage or deform the panel.

Double-sided tape can only be used for temporary installation. The device attached by the tape may come unstuck from the surface at any time. As long as the device is taped, the tamper will not be triggered when the device is detached from the surface.

  2. Mount the siren on SmartBracket and turn it clockwise.
  3. Secure the siren with a screw. This reduces the risk of burglary.

Maintenance

Check the functioning of the device regularly. Clean the device enclosure of dust, cobwebs, and other contaminants as they emerge. Use soft dry wipes suitable for equipment care.

Do not use any substances containing alcohol, acetone, petrol, and other active solvents to clean the device.

The batteries installed in the siren provide up to 5 years of battery life. When the batteries are discharged, the system will send a corresponding notification, and the LED frame in the lower right corner will light up and go out when the system is arming and disarming (if the indication is disabled), when alarming, dismantling, or opening the siren enclosure.
