The Ajax security system allows conducting tests for checking the functionality of connected devices. The tests do not start straight away but within a period of 36 seconds when using the standard settings. The test time start depends on the settings of the detector scanning period (the paragraph on “Jeweller” in hub settings).
Test is available at:
- Ajax app → Devices
→ DEVICE → Settings
→ Attenuation Test
The signal attenuation test is available for detectors with firmware version 3.50 and later.
The test is based on European Standard EN50131, Grade 2. It enables the users to decrease or increase the power of the radio transmitter artificially allowing the simulation of the changing environment inside the premises in order to check the stability of communication between the device and the hub.
The test is recommended to be conducted along with the signal strength test. In total, three levels of signal strength are available for the test:
- Automatic — the device adjusts the power level of the transmitter automatically (default mode).
- Attenuation — artificially reduces the signal strength of the device by 6 dB.
- Maximum — sets the maximum power level of the transmitter.
After performing the signal strength test, it is advisable to select the Attenuation option and once again check the signal strength over a period of not less than a minute. If the detector demonstrates reliable signal reception (2-3 bars), the location is selected correctly.
After completing the test, you must automatically select the power level once again. Using other modes can lead to quicker battery discharge.
