Day alarm mode in an Ajax system

Updated

Day alarm is a special security mode that allows monitoring certain areas of the facility and controlling access to them when the system is disarmed.

System requirements

All Ajax hubs running OS Malevich 2.35 or later, except for Hub (2G) Jeweller and Hub BP Jeweller, support the Day alarm feature.

At least one intrusion device and one control device are required to create one day alarm zone in the system.

The Day alarm mode can be configured by PROs with access to the system settings in Ajax PRO apps of the following versions:

Operating principle

The Day alarm mode provides an additional layer of security for facilities during operating hours, allowing users to monitor specific areas and control access to them while the system remains disarmed.

In practice, one purpose of the mode is to monitor emergency exits that must be unlocked during operating hours but should not be used unnecessarily. Another purpose is to control authorized personnel access to restricted areas — for example, only shop employees should be able to access the shop’s storage.

If someone unauthorized enters an area protected by the Day alarm mode, a local alarm is activated. The system sends a notification in Ajax apps and sounds an alarm with sirens, but it does not send an alarm to monitoring software. However, sending an alarm to monitoring software is adjustable and can be enabled if necessary.

The system allows creating a separate day alarm zone for each restricted area. The maximum number of day alarm zones corresponds to the number of groups for a specific hub.

To access the day alarm zone, an authorized person must deactivate the Day alarm mode using the assigned control device, such as an Ajax keypad or third-party device in the KeyArm mode. The Day alarm mode can be deactivated with codes (user, PRO, and guest), keypad codes, and access devices (Tag, Pass, or smartphone with Bluetooth).

Duress codes work as designed by the system: once the code is entered, the Day alarm mode is deactivated and the system sends a silent alarm to the monitoring station.

Day alarm deactivation types

There are two types of Day alarm mode deactivation: temporary and permanent. Temporary deactivation lasts until intrusion devices are triggered the set number of times or until the timer expires. Permanent deactivation lasts indefinitely until it is disabled. To activate the Day alarm mode after permanent deactivation, a user, PRO, or guest with permission for permanent deactivation must reapply their code or access device, such as Tag, Pass, or smartphone with Bluetooth.

The deactivation type is set for each user, PRO, or guest in the corresponding settings. Refer to the Granting permissions to control the Day alarm mode section for more information.

The following deactivation combinations are possible:

  • If temporary deactivation is applied when the Day alarm mode is already temporarily deactivated, the system restarts the number of triggerings or the timer.
  • If permanent deactivation is applied when the Day alarm mode is already temporarily deactivated, the mode becomes permanently deactivated.
  • If temporary deactivation is applied when the Day alarm mode is permanently deactivated, the mode remains permanently deactivated.

Configuring a day alarm zone

Only PROs with access to the system settings can create, configure, and delete a day alarm zone.

Creating a zone

To create a day alarm zone in an Ajax PRO app:

  1. Select the required space or object.
  2. Go to: Devices tab → HubSettings ServiceDay alarm.
  3. Click Add zone or in the upper right corner.
  4. Assign a name to the zone and click Add. A menu with zone settings will open.
  5. Select at least one intrusion device and at least one control device in the corresponding fields.
  6. Configure other settings if necessary.
  7. Click Save to create a zone.
  8. Repeat steps 3–7 to create other day alarm zones.

Zone settings

Setting Meaning
Notify CMS about unauthorized entries and exits in zones

When the option is enabled, the system sends a notification to monitoring software if someone enters or exits any zone without deactivating the Day alarm mode.

This setting applies to all day alarm zones in the system.

The setting is disabled by default.

Name

Name of the day alarm zone. It is displayed in the notifications in the event feed.

To change the name, click on the text field. The name can contain up to 48 characters.

Intrusion devices

The option allows selecting devices that detect when someone enters or leaves the day alarm zone.

It is required to add at least one device to the zone. The same intrusion device cannot be added to different zones.

To ensure that the Day alarm mode functions correctly, the Always active settings must be disabled for the selected intrusion devices.

Control devices

The option allows selecting devices that can control the Day alarm mode.

When added to the zone, a security mode control device functions only to control the Day alarm mode. Controlling the system or group security state or activating Night mode is not available.

It is required to add at least one device to the zone. The same device cannot be added to different zones.

Sirens

The option allows selecting devices that will sound an alarm if unauthorized entry into or exit from the zone is detected.

It is possible not to add any such devices to the zone. Also, the same devices can be added to different zones.

Temporary day alarm deactivation The option allows selecting the type of temporary deactivation of the Day alarm mode:

  • By number of triggerings — alarms of entering or leaving the zone are not sent until intrusion devices are triggered the set number of times.
  • By timer — alarms of entering or leaving the zone are not sent until the set time expires.
Number of triggerings

The option allows selecting the number of intrusion device triggerings after which Day alarm mode deactivation ends.

This setting is available if the By number of triggerings option is selected for the Temporary day alarm deactivation setting.

Timer

The option allows selecting the duration of the Day alarm mode deactivation. The Day alarm mode deactivation ends once the timer expires.

This setting is available if the By timer option is selected for the Temporary day alarm deactivation setting.

Alarm if door remains open

When the option is enabled, the system sends an alarm if the door remains open after the deactivation timer expires.

The setting is disabled by default.

This setting is available if the By timer option is selected for the Temporary day alarm deactivation setting.

Notify about day alarm deactivation

When the option is enabled, notifications are sent whenever someone deactivates the Day alarm mode with the access device or code.

The setting is disabled by default.

Delete zone The option allows deleting the day alarm zone.

Modifying or deleting a zone

To modify or delete a day alarm zone in an Ajax PRO app:

  1. Select the required space or object.
  2. Go to: Devices tab → HubSettings ServiceDay alarm.
  3. Select the required zone in the list:
    1. To modify the zone, configure required settings and click Save to apply the changes.
    2. To delete the zone, click Delete zone and confirm the deletion.

Granting permissions to control the Day alarm mode

Permissions to control day alarm zones for users, PROs, and guests must be granted separately in the corresponding settings. Only PRO users with access to system settings can configure day alarm management permissions. By default, no one has the right to control day alarm zones.

Permissions to manage day alarm zones can be granted to each user, PRO, guest access code, or Tag/Pass assigned to a guest. There is no need to create additional codes or add access devices — users and guests can control day alarm zones using existing codes and access devices.

Users

  1. Select the required space or object.
  2. Go to space settings by clicking in the upper right corner of the object tab.
