The power consumption of Ajax NVR mostly depends on the hard disk consumption.
To calculate the operation time of a video recorder from an external battery, use external battery life calculator. To calculate it manually, multiply the battery capacity by its voltage and divide it by the average power consumption of the device (refer to the table).
For instance, if Ajax NVR with HDD hard disk installed is connected to a 12 V⎓, 40 Ah battery, its operation time will be the following:
(40 Ah × 12 V) ÷ 5.2 W ≈ 92 hours
The values in the table are valid for default video recorder settings.
To power a video recorder from an external battery, you need to use 12V PSU for NVR.
Configuration | Average power consumption |
Without a hard disk | 1.7 W |
With SSD hard disk | 2.5 W |
With HDD hard disk | 5.2 W |
The battery life of a video recorder when operating from a power supply unit depends on the following parameters:
- Hard disk type;
- Battery voltage and capacity;
- Ambient temperature (depends on the type and model of a battery);
- Number of cameras that simultaneously stream video.
