Camera BatteryPack user manual

Posted on

Camera BatteryPack is a rechargeable Li-ion battery designed to power BatteryCam HL. The battery is available in two versions:

  1. Camera BatteryPack (10Ah)
  2. Camera BatteryPack (20Ah)

Functional elements

  1. LED indicator.
  2. Connector to connect the battery to the camera.
  3. USB Type-C connector to charge the battery.

Compatible cameras

The battery requires a compatible Ajax camera to operate. The compatible cameras are the following:

Operating principle

Camera BatteryPack (10Ah) and Camera BatteryPack (20Ah) are internal rechargeable batteries used as a main or backup power source for the Ajax camera.

Selecting an installation site

The battery must be installed only inside the camera enclosure. When choosing a camera installation site, consider the factors that affect the battery operation:

  • Operating temperature.
  • Permissible humidity level.

Consider the placement recommendations when designing your Ajax system. Only professionals must design and install the system. The list of recommended Ajax partners is available here.

Where not to install the battery

  1. In places with high temperatures. For example, near heat sources, such as radiators, heaters, or direct sunlight. High temperatures can cause battery overheating, rapid self-discharge, component damage, and even explosion or fire.
  2. In places with high humidity. Moisture can corrode the contacts or cause a short circuit.
  3. Near flammable materials. Never place the battery near flammable liquids or materials. Doing so increases the risk of fire or explosion, especially if a short circuit occurs.

Installation

Before installing the battery, ensure that you have selected the optimal camera location and read the camera user manual.

User manuals for Ajax cameras and other devices are available on the Ajax Support page.

When installing and operating an Ajax system, follow the rules and requirements of regulatory legal acts on electrical safety.

Do not dismantle, open, or shred secondary cells or batteries. Do not insert your fingers or foreign objects into battery openings, such as vents or terminals.

Installing the battery

  1. Unscrew the holding screw at the bottom of the camera, slide the SmartBracket mounting panel down, and remove it from the camera.
  2. Unscrew the screw securing the battery compartment cover and remove the cover.
  3. Insert the battery into the battery compartment so that the connectors align.
  4. Slide the battery down until the latches secure it in place.
  5. Install the battery compartment cover and secure it with the holding screw.
  6. Install the SmartBracket mounting panel and secure it with the holding screw.
  7. Check the Battery charge state in the device states in an Ajax app.

Removing the battery

  1. Unscrew the holding screw at the bottom of the camera, slide the SmartBracket mounting panel down, and remove it from the camera.
  2. Unscrew the screw securing the battery compartment cover and remove the cover.
  3. Slide the battery upward until the latches release it.
  4. Remove the battery from the battery compartment.

States

The camera states include information about the battery charge level. These states can be found in Ajax apps:

  1. Go to the Devices tab.
  2. Select the required camera from the list.

Indication

The Camera BatteryPack LED indicator lights up red or green depending on the battery state. The indication is only available while the battery is charging via the USB Type-C connector.

Maintenance

Camera BatteryPack (10Ah) and Camera BatteryPack (20Ah) must be recharged when the charge level is low. They can be charged before installation in the camera or after installation if the camera is connected to an external power supply.

When the battery is low, recharge it as soon as possible to prevent battery degradation.

Before storing the battery, fully charge it to prevent degradation.

Charging the battery

To charge the battery, connect an external power supply to the battery’s USB Type-C connector. During charging, the battery’s LED indicator shows the charging status.

We recommend using an external power supply, such as a power adapter, with the following output parameters: 5.0 V⎓ 3.0 A, or 9.0 V⎓ 2.0 A, or 12.0 V⎓ 1.5 A.

Use a cable capable of supplying the recommended output parameters for battery charging. Note that low-quality cables may cause prolonged charging times or even damage the battery or power source.

The battery can be charged when installed in the camera if an external power supply or a solar panel is connected to the camera and provides sufficient power. The maximum permissible output parameters of the power source in this case are 12 V⎓, 2 A.

If the battery temperature is outside the charging range (i.e., below 32 °F or above 113 °F), charging will stop until its temperature returns to a conducive range. Also, the information that the battery temperature is outside the charging range is displayed in the camera states in the Ajax app if the battery is installed in the camera while charging.

Warranty
