How many video surveillance devices can be added to a space

Updated

Space is a virtual entity in which a variety of autonomous devices can be gathered on the same physical object. An Ajax system allows you to add devices with internet access, such as Ajax NVR video recorder and Ajax cameras, directly to the space without an Ajax hub.

How many devices can be added to one space

Each space allows you to add a single Ajax hub and up to 200 devices that require the hub (depending on the hub model). The number of Ajax NVR video recorders, Ajax cameras, and third-party cameras you can add depends on your specific video surveillance setup.

Third-party cameras require either an Ajax NVR or an Ajax hub for connection. If a third-party camera is not added to an Ajax NVR, it can only be used with the added Ajax hub and transmit an RTSP stream without access to the archive.

To determine whether one space is sufficient for your surveillance setup, you can use Video device calculator. If your system includes not only video surveillance devices, it is recommended to use Ajax system configurator.

How to use Video device calculator

To determine the number of video surveillance devices that can be added to the space, you need to:

  1. Go to Ajax web tools.
  2. Select Video device calculator.
  3. Specify the number of cameras and video recorders. The space capacity will be displayed as a percentage. You will receive a warning if the number of devices exceeds the permissible value. To clear the setup, click Reset.
  4. Click Download PDF to generate a PDF file containing the calculation results.
