Fire alarm scenarios for EN54 Line devices

Updated

An Ajax system enables configuring fire alarm scenarios for EN54 Line devices, allowing customization of the system’s response to specific triggers and alarms.

System requirements

Only systems with EN54 Fire Hub Jeweller running OS Malevich 2.39 or later support the creation of fire alarm scenarios.

At least one device that can trigger the scenario and one device that can execute the scenario must be added to the system. Only EN54 Line devices can take part in fire alarm scenarios.

The feature is available in the following or later Ajax app versions:

Operating principle

Fire alarm scenarios enable configuring custom responses to specific fire alarms. These scenarios allow linking devices that can trigger the scenario with devices that can execute it.

A fire alarm scenario can include the following triggers and performers:

  • Triggers: the Start evacuation button on the CIE display, heat and smoke detectors, integration module inputs, and buttons for manual fire alarm activation.
  • Performers: fire alarm sounders, visual alarm devices (VAD), remote fire alarm indicators, and integration module outputs.

The total number of scenarios depends on the CIE’s characteristics. EN54 Fire Hub Jeweller supports up to 64 scenarios.

Fire alarm scenarios include one general fire alarm scenario, which is present in the system by default, and multiple custom fire alarm scenarios defined by a user.

In addition to fire alarm scenarios, the EN 54-certified system supports intrusion scenarios. If both types of scenarios are created in the system, they are organized into separate groups. Also, it is possible to open all scenarios of a specific type by selecting the corresponding tab.

General fire alarm scenario

A general fire alarm scenario is a default scenario for any fire alarm. This scenario uses predefined settings under which any fire detection or evacuation event activates the performers. When a new EN54 Line device (except for EN54 Indicator Jeweller) is added to the CIE, the system automatically includes it in the general scenario.

Once EN54 Indicator Jeweller is added to the CIE, the system does not automatically add it to the general fire alarm scenario.

Either create a custom scenario to link the indicator to a specific detector, or manually add the indicator to the general fire alarm scenario. For more information, refer to the EN54 Indicator Jeweller user manual.

The system allows configuring a general fire alarm scenario, but it cannot be removed from the system — it can only be disabled.

Custom fire alarm scenario

Custom fire alarm scenarios are used to perform specific actions under defined fire alarm conditions. Creating a custom scenario requires at least one scenario trigger and at least one scenario performer in the system. The same trigger can be used in multiple scenarios, but the same performer can be used in only one. When a performer that is already used in one scenario is added to another scenario, the system automatically removes it from the original scenario.

Each custom fire alarm scenario created in the system counts as one scenario against the CIE’s total scenario limit.

Custom scenarios are used to link remote fire alarm indicators with the specific detectors.

Setting up a fire alarm scenario

A system admin or a user with access to system settings can create, enable/disable, modify, or delete a fire alarm scenario.

Note that the general fire alarm scenario can not be removed from the system — it can only be disabled.

Creating a custom fire alarm scenario

To create a custom fire alarm scenario, in an Ajax app:

  1. Select a space and go to:
    • Control Settings Scenarios and schedule
  2. Tap Add scenario and select the Fire scenarios (EN-54) type.
  3. Specify:
    1. Name of the scenario.
    2. Triggers. Select devices that detect fire conditions and run the scenario.
    3. Performers. Select devices that respond to triggers by alerting people or controlling building systems.
    4. Ignore fire delays. When selected, performers are activated immediately, skipping investigation and acknowledgment delays.
    5. Scenario notifications. Set whether to send notifications to system users when the scenario runs.
  4. Tap Save.

Note that performers can only be used in one fire alarm scenario. If a performer device is assigned to another scenario, the system removes it from the original one.

Modifying or deleting a fire alarm scenario

To modify or delete a fire alarm scenario, in an Ajax app:

  1. Select a space and go to:
    • Control Settings Scenarios and schedule
  2. In the menu that opens, you can do the following:
    1. Enable or disable individual scenarios.
    2. Modify a scenario: select the required scenario, edit it or configure its settings, then tap Save to apply the changes.
    3. Delete a scenario: select the required scenario, tap Delete scenario, and confirm the action.
