Ajax SpaceControl S Jeweller user manual

Soon to be: Ajax Superior SpaceControl Jeweller

Updated

Ajax SpaceControl S Jeweller is a wireless key fob for managing security modes. It features a panic button and protection against accidental pressing. The device allows users to arm/disarm an Ajax system, enable the night mode, or activate an alarm.

Ajax SpaceControl S Jeweller operates as part of the Ajax system. The key fob communicates with the hub via the secure Jeweller protocol. In addition, the key fob can be used to manage any third-party security control panel through the uartBridge or ocBridge Plus integration module.

Since the communication is two-way, you will know whether the system has received the key fob command.

Users can configure the key fob in Ajax apps for iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows.

This product line is developed for projects. Only accredited Ajax Systems partners can sell, install, and administer Superior products.

Superior, Fibra, and Baseline product lines are mutually compatible. This opens up numerous possibilities for building systems of any configuration.

Functional elements

  1. Button to arm the facility.
  2. Button to disarm the facility.
  3. Button to enable the night mode.
  4. Panic button (activates the alarm).
  5. LED indicators.
  6. Hole for hanging the key fob.

You can assign functions to the buttons only when using the key fob with uartBridge or ocBridge Plus. You can not change the commands assigned to the buttons when using the key fob with an Ajax hub.

Compatible hubs and range extenders

The device requires an Ajax hub with OS Malevich 2.25 or later firmware version.

Operating principle

Ajax SpaceControl S Jeweller controls security modes and sends an alarm signal to the central monitoring station when the panic button of the key fob is pressed.

The communication range between the key fob and the hub is up to 4,250 ft. Walls, inserted floors, or other objects interfering with signal transmission can reduce this distance.

Ajax SpaceControl S Jeweller operates only with one security system (Ajaх system or third-party system through the integration module). If you connect the key fob to a new security system, it will stop interacting with the previous system. However, the key fob will not be automatically deleted from the list of devices of the previous hub.

With the key fob, users can:

  • Arm the facility — press the button once
  • Enable the night mode — press the button once
  • Disarm the facility — press the button once
  • Activate the alarm — press the button once

If the siren is triggered, press the button on the key fob to switch the system to disarmed mode.

Adding to the system

Before adding the device

  1. Install the Ajax app.
  2. Log in to an account or create a new one.
  3. Select a space or create a new one.

    The space functionality is available for apps of such versions or later:

    • Ajax Security System 3.0 for iOS;
    • Ajax Security System 3.0 for Android;
    • Ajax PRO: Tool for Engineers 2.0 for iOS;
    • Ajax PRO: Tool for Engineers 2.0 for Android;
    • Ajax PRO Desktop 4.0 for macOS;
    • Ajax PRO Desktop 4.0 for Windows.
  4. Add at least one virtual room.
  5. Add a compatible hub to the space. Ensure the hub is turned on and has internet access via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and/or mobile network.
  6. Ensure that the space is in disarmed mode and the hub is not starting an update. To do this, check statuses in the Ajax app.

This product line is developed for projects. Only accredited Ajax Systems partners can sell, install, and administer Superior products.

Pairing with the hub

  1. Open the Ajax app. If you have access to multiple hubs or use the PRO app, select the space and hub where you want to add the key fob.
  2. Go to the Devices tab and tap Add device.
  3. Name the device, scan or type in the QR code (placed on the device and the package box), and select a room and a group (if group mode is enabled).
  4. Tap Add.
  5. If you simultaneously press the armed mode and panic buttons, the key fob’s central LED indicators will flash. To communicate with the system, the key fob should be located within the coverage area of the hub’s wireless network (within one protected facility).

If the key fob is added to the hub, it will appear in the list of hub devices in the app. Updating the statuses of devices in the list depends on the Jeweller or Jeweller/Fibra settings. The default value is 36 seconds.

Connecting the key fob to third-party security systems

To connect the key fob to a third-party security control panel through uartBridge or ocBridge Plus, follow the recommendations in the manual for the corresponding integration module.

Maintenance

Clean the key fob enclosure from dust, cobwebs, and other contaminants as they appear. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning appliances.

To clean Ajax SpaceControl S Jeweller, do not use any substances containing alcohol, acetone, gasoline, or other active solvents.

If the key fob is used in normal mode (one arming and disarming of the facility per day), the pre-installed battery provides up to 5 years of autonomous operation. However, more frequent use reduces battery life. You can check the battery level at any time in Ajax apps.

Keep new and used batteries away from children. Do not ingest the battery.

The pre-installed battery is sensitive to low temperatures. If the key fob is significantly cooled, the battery level indicator in the app may show incorrect values until the key fob gets warm.

The value of the battery level is not updated regularly, but only after pressing one of the buttons on the key fob.

When the battery is low, the user will receive a notification in the Ajax app, and the key fob LED will slowly light up and go out red each time the button is pressed.
